Women's Enterprising BreakthroughEvents We have a wide variety of what we like to call 'Sunshine Prescription' because all of the activities that we organise are guaranteed to put a smile on your face! So why not join us for some fun and hopefully a bit of 'sun' on our 'Sunshine Prescriptions'. However, even if the sun isn't shining, we guarantee you will have an enjoyable and interesting time. You will also get to meet some very warm, friendly and welcoming women. So why not give it a try! These activities are constantly updated in accordance to the requests we receive from women who use our Centre. New Leaf ProgrammeThe 'New Leaf Programme' was originally designed and piloted by Pat Shea–Halson in Liverpool to support young people who had been excluded from school. It was specifically designed to help children get the best they can from the Education System, and to implement behaviour modification, enabling children to achieve academically, personally and professionally. The programme is designed to improve confidence, self esteem and communication skills to enable young people to learn how to manage feelings of anger and distress in their daily lives. The pilot course of the 'New Leaf Programme' was deemed by the schools and pupils that took part as 100‰ successful. This was because all of the pupils, who participated in the training programme, returned to mainstream schools to complete their education. At WEB we have been working and 'training' with the originator of the 'New Leaf Programme (Pat Shea–Halson) in order to offer a programme of support that will support women and young people to learn how to cope with their feelings of anger and distress, and sometimes what rides alongside this is often sadness and confusion. The 'New Leaf Programme' is designed to develop 'everyday' coping strategies to enable you to deal with the difficult emotions that arise from these feelings. We are currently piloting 2 'New Leaf Programmes' in Birkenhead, 1 for young women under 16 years of age, and a 'New Leaf Programme' for women. The 'New Leaf Programme is a 10 week training programme that will support participants to learn how to communicate effectively with both adults and young people. Participants will learn how to reflect upon the different defense mechanisms that people use to avoid looking at their feelings, or from expressing their anger in a healthy manner. They will also develop an awareness of their own 'anger triggers' and processes and develop ways in which they can manage and make sense of this. A variety of learning techniques will be used during the course. Visualisation, and accelerated learning techniques combined with best practice techniques will be included to raise awareness and assist all course participants in developing the confidence to manage their feelings and emotions. Participants will learn the importance of anger, and how to express and communicate their anger in a healthy way. They will develop a 'self–awareness' of their 'personal anger triggers' and the consequences of acting upon them. They will learn 'personal responsibility and accountability'. How to make positive changes and 'set goals', and also how to plan, make and maintain positive changes in their lives.
